As wives, Kehinde and Taiwo found married life most enjoyable, while Rose struggled to assimilate because she was never born into wealth, and the lifestyle seemed excessive and vulgar. Isolated and alone, Rose became weary of her new life in London. The other wives enjoyed the spotlight, the events and the debauchery along with finding new ways to spend their husbands’ money, Rose only desired a quiet life with her husband. As time went on, Kehinde and Taiwo were known for their excessive lifestyle and fashion. Rose on the other hand became reclusive. She would spend most of her days playing the piano or gardening when the weather allowed. It broke Mbaye to see his once vibrant wife lose her light. After she gave birth to their son, Mbaye bought her a quaint home in Louisiana and a beautiful manor in the South of France to spend her days when he was away on business. The love that blossomed for Rose was so profound that the lap of luxury that Mbaye had basked in as a young man, began to disappear. As years went on, Taiwo and Kehinde became known as “The Denka Wives”, the ostentatious Nigerian socialites of modern English society. While Rose and Mbaye lived in quiet bliss away from the public, with their son, in the south of France.

Assan, Ousmane and Mbaye Denka were the oil giants of Senegal. Fiercely barring entry to the market, they successfully monopolised the entire industry, owning all of the oil and gas plants in the state and along the borders between Mali and Gambia. By the time they were in their late 20’s they were well known and respected businessmen, sought after by governments across the continent for resource management and political counsel. Moving to the United Kingdom in 1967, they became the most envied young men in England much to the displeasure of the elite. But for two young sisters, the promise of marrying well was nought to envy. Kehinde and Taiwo were born to Nigerian diplomat parents, stationed in London to work with the Nigerian consulate. They went to the finest schools and both graduated with prestigious university degrees. Kehinde, being the eldest was promised to Mbaye from the time she was 15, Taiwo naturally, only wanted to marry a wealthy man just like her sister. As fate would have it, Mbaye and Kehinde were not a good match at all. Mbaye was a free spirit, who loved to travel to America to get away from the rigidity and seriousness of British aristocracy and politics and Kehinde was traditional and spoiled. Mbaye would frequent swanky jazz clubs and cabarets in New York and New Orleans and very often would he dazzle the eye of many a woman there. There was, however, one woman who caught his eye in particular- Rosemary, a voluptuous and charismatic 21 year old performer. Fourteen years his junior, Mbaye could not resist her youthful charms and playfulness. His trips to New York became more frequent and lasted longer each time. Back in London, Kehinde, hearing of her promised’s escapades, set her eyes on Assan , the youngest of the brothers. Impressionable and innocent, he was no match for Kehinde’s feminine whiles and he would soon marry her in less than a year. Shortly thereafter Ousmane and Taiwo would wed after they both fell victim to their own lustful affair. After two years of courting, Mbaye finally brought Rosemary back to London to marry her. Neither Kehinde nor Taiwo were drawn to her, she was just too American.…. Stay tuned….

General Hàorán Wu was a 5th generation Qing Dynasty descendant. Inheriting his father’s wealth and status, he married his beloved Fàn Qià in 1903 with whom he had a beautiful daughter, Jiāo Xiān. Shortly after her 7th birthday, Jiāo Xiān lost her mother to lung cancer. Devastated, General Hàorán slipped into a deep depression, his only light being his daughter who stood by his side in her innocence and purity. As she grew each day she more and more resembled her beloved mother, much to the delight of her father. She became an academic marvel, speaking 13 languages and developing her natural talent for literary writing. However, her place in his life was soon overshadowed by a new love, the elegant and alluring opera singer Căijī. By spring, Căijī would wed the General, and be hence known as Guì rén Căijī, “Noble Lady”. As Jiāo Xiān grew into a beautiful swan, envy grew in the heart of Căijī. Even with all her wealth and status she craved most that which was fading from her- youth and beauty. Căijī never bore The General any children for fear a son would take her glory and a daughter- her beauty. But as Jiāo Xiān turned 21, unbound jealousy gripped Căijī, and one midsummer’s evening, Jiāo Xiān‘s fate was sealed as she drank a poisoned tea at the hands of her stepmother. Maddened by the sudden loss of his only heir, The General dwindled from a once mighty man to a frail, fragmented shadow of himself. “I wish I knew how to clean my new lashes” Well, now you do! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ Clean your lashes by rubbing micellar water or eye makeup remover/cleanser along the band for a few seconds, then soak them in the solution for 8-10 seconds. This will help to further break up the glue and remove any makeup/residue from within the lashes. Gently remove the glue with a tweezer and leave the lashes out to dry. Fluff them with a clean spoolie/ mascara wand and they’re ready to be worn again!
